Lakota Imprint is an Indian owned and operated record company that specializes in the production of original and innovative Indian music. Lakota Imprint began in 2001 with executive producer Robert, “R.O.B.” Beauvais. When asked what the acronym stands for "R.O.B." replies' "Rosebud or Beyond". This acronym also explains the vision of the artists and the music that Lakota Imprint creates. **************************************************************** R.O.B. began his artistry on the Rosebud Sioux Indian reservation in the early 90's under the mentorship of guitar instructor Richard Artichoker. By the time R.O.B. left the Rosebud reservation for Denver, Colorado he had already played the guitar professionally in several bands, including the rosebud reservation group "Running Guns". Upon arrival in Colorado R.O.B. joined forces with other Denver musicians creating the legendary grind band "Locowood”. ***************************************************************** Locowood formed the independent record label Locorado Records in order to release their debut album independently. Because the debut album was never released, R.O.B. began work with Lakota Imprint and eventually hooked up with D.J. Tribal Touch (Club Synergy, The Church, and Vinyl). R.O.B. started promoting underground mixtapes for Tribal Touch and released the underground house music albums "Libra”, and “Classics”. Upon the successful response to the D.J. Tribal Touch campaign, R.O.B. released the first Lakota Imprint project: Tiyospaye, a nine song E.P. compilation which featured Indian and non-Indian artists such as: Prokras, Lucy Luscious, Shatta-I, The Atoll, The Institute of God Science, Julian B., Shadowyze, Mixtech, and D.J. Tribal Touch. ****************************************************************** In addition to the contemporary Tiyospaye release R.O.B. also released two Lakota Drum group albums from the Eagle Creek Singers: “Hanging Around/ Recorded in Antelope”, and “Live at Rosebud Fair 2002”. ******************************************************************* In 2003 D.J. Tribal Touch introduced R.O.B. to Lakota recording artist Dephkilla. By Cinco De Mayo 2004 R.O.B. and Dephkilla had written and recorded the “Dephkilla Mixtape Vol Uno”, a 10 song underground mixtape which currently has over 10,000 Units in circulation to date. ********************************************************************* With the underground success of “Vol. Uno” R.O.B. and Dephkilla continued their successful underground mixtape series with the 2005 follow up “Dephkilla Mixtape Dos: Lyrikota Code Talkerz” which features Indian artists such as 20.8, Lovely, and Unknown. ********************************************************************** Today Dephkilla is currently booking live performances and also preparing for a original and innovatice releases with Lakota Imprint. *********************************************************************** And by the way, Lakota Imprint is now Lyrikota Imprint habudz@hotmail.com 720.296.1930
